Signing up for LIVE ON-LINE Piano Lessons

Please keep in mind that with over 50 years of experience in successfully teaching thousands of people how to play the piano in 10 weeks by the chord system, I don't need to be in the same room with you to teach you.   If I can see your hands on the keyboard amd hear what you are playing, I can teach you.   Guaranteed!

These are LIVE lessons exactly the same as though you were in New Orleans taking lessons from me in person.   The only difference is that I am not in the same room with you.   They are also what I like to call painless piano lessons, designed for fun and relaxation and aimed at the person who wants to learn enough about the piano to be able to sit down at the keyboard and have a good time.

The lessons involve absolutely NO scales, NO exercises and a minimum of 10 to 20 minutes of daily practice.   More is NOT better.   Consistent daily effort in small chunks is the key to success and will reward you with a lifelong ability to play the world's greatest instrument.

If you are looking for someone to teach you how to get to Carnegie Hall, then this is not for you.   I have no intention of trying to teach anyone how to get up on the stage and perform in public.   99.9% of all piano students are not willing to do what I did to get to be a concert pianist.   It's the equivalent of getting ready to compete in the Olympics for 15 years starting at a very early age.   It's extremely hard and absolutely no fun at all unless you are a fanatic.   If that's what you're looking for, this is not it.   This is for fun and relaxation.   A new hobby.

First thing you need to do is get a web camera and a microphone.   This should cost you less than $100.00 for both.   If this venture into music doesn't work out, you'll still have a piece of equipment for which you'll have a great deal of use.

Once you have the web camera and the microphone installed and you have tested them so that you know how they work, either e-mail me or call me for instructions on how we make a live connection.   Once you see how the setup works and you want to continue with the lessons, you come back here to the site and pay for the first month plus the book.

That's all you're ever obligated for: one month at a time.

If you don't have a piano, DON'T buy one yet.   I strongly recommend that you RENT one.   If you take lessons for a couple of months and find out you don't like it, you won't be stuck with a piece of furniture for which you have no use.   Most music stores will rent pianos for $40 to $50 a month and apply the first six months and the moving charge to any piano you might decide to buy.   Anytime you decide that the piano is not the instrument you want to play, you pick up the phone, call the music store and have them pick up the piano and that's the end of it.

If you decide that you want to buy a piano, I recommend that you start with an electronic keyboard.   It must have at least 61 regulation size piano keys and have a sustain pedal.   Many electronic keyboards do not include the sustain pedal but do have the jack on the back of the keyboard where you can plug in the sustain pedal.   They run about $40.00 You will need to have the sustain pedal by lesson five or six.

The huge advantage of this instrument over the acoustic piano is the fact that you can plug in a headset and nobody can hear a note.   Really great for those days at 3 a.m.when you can't sleep and would like to play the piano.   I don't know what I would do without mine!

If you have any questions, please feel free to call or write at any time.

Musically yours,

Fritz Owens
